Its goal is to survey most of the sky for close by exoplanets and find the best Earth or super-Earth sized planets for future missions capable of further characterization, such as determining the makeup of their atmospheres and searching for possible biosignatures, which could indicate the presence of life. <image:title>Home - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>In this image taken on 19 July 2013, the wide-angle camera on the Cassini spacecraft captured Saturn’s rings and our planet Earth in the same frame. Here, Earth is seen from 1.44 billion km away and appears as a blue dot at center right. The other bright dots nearby are stars. This is the third time ever that Earth has been imaged from the outer Solar System. The first image was taken by NASA’s Voyager-1 on Valentine’s Day in 1990 and famously titled “Pale Blue Dot”. Read Carl Sagan’s beautiful words reflecting on the original picture here or watch an inspiring video here to hear him speak these famous words.</image:caption>
